In the summer of 2004, the future leaders of Ukraine will come together in an explosion of minds that will change their universe! Camp Big Bang, an overnight English-speaking camp for 110 eligible secondary school students, will run from the 9th to the 22nd of June in the town of Haivoron. One of the goals of this camp is to provide an English immersion experience for these students. They will spend a maximum amount of time interacting and speaking English with native speakers, both at lessons and during their free time. Secondly, the camp will give each child the opportunity to learn about an important issue that effects their life by attending a one-hour English lesson every day on that topic. They have a choice of topics including: HIV Education, Leadership, or Gender Issues. They will complete an 11-lesson course in their topic of choice and a final project that will educate others about the topic. The camp will also provide children a chance to relax and make new friends in an English-speaking environment. Partnership funds are needed to pay for camp activity supplies such as flip chart paper, markers, folders, pens, tape, scissors, and photocopy paper.
